About Me

I’m Tom Dehnel. I’m an independent SEO and AI Search consultant who spends most of the year in San Francisco, and part of the year in South Florida. I think it’s funny how Californians and Floridians think the other ones are crazy. I like both places. I’m married to this wonderful woman and we have a great kid. I play golf and run. I used to make YouTube videos but I no longer have the time. In February of 2023 I quit using exclamation marks.

SEO Consulting

I’ve worked in marketing since 2005. I look young because I sleep upside down. Just joking that’s an old picture and I sleep in a regular bed. I’ve done SEO for companies from pre-launch startups to major tech and finance firms to big e-commerce sites with millions of products.

I like what I do. It still feels like magic. I like to question assumptions. I focus on what corporate types call “leveraged solutions.” In English, that means getting the most bang-for-your-buck.

SEO can be confusing because there are always a million things you can do. The trick is knowing which ones will produce the best business results. I have high openness and a bias towards action, so I usually err on the side of getting something up and running quickly so we can test it. I prefer to say how I feel directly. I can move slow and build consensus, but it takes extra effort. To me, it makes sense to launch fast, learn, and continually improve. I think Edward Deming was a G.

I’m particularly good at explaining things to different people. I’m comfortable talking to founders, junior employees, executives, managers, individual contributors, developers, creatives, and probably your grandparents.

Can you help me with SEO/my website?

Possibly. Most of my clients have marketing budgets on the larger side. Reach out via LinkedIn if you’d like to talk more about this.

Can we play golf together?

That would be awesome. Golf is the greatest game ever made.

So You Make YouTube Videos?

Yeah, it’s fun for me, and I gained a small following, but I haven’t had much time lately. Here’s my channel.

Didn’t I see you hosting a trivia night?

I used to host a weekly trivia night at restaurants and bars. Being in front of people is my idea of fun. My secret dream is I would like to host a show like The Bachelor.
